The USMCA is a renegotiation of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The deal must be approved by Congress before it can take effect. The Senate Finance Committee has jurisdiction over matters of trade and will be actively involved in the consideration of this new agreement when it is taken up by the Senate. I have long maintained that NAFTA needed to be renegotiated so that goods and services made in the United States would receive fair and equitable treatment among our trading allies. Monday's announcement is welcome news for Idaho's agriculture producers who export what we grow here in Idaho to our trading partners in Canada and Mexico, said Crapo. As I continue to review the details of the new agreement, I am hopeful that the USMCA will bring enhanced access to markets for Idaho's dairy and other agriculture communities. # # # Print Email Tweet Previous Article 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
