https://www.dgraham.senate.gov/press-releases/graham-scott-and-wilson-advocate-for-increased-funding-for-savannah-river-national-laboratory-to-support-the-advanced-manufacturing-collaborative Graham, Scott, and Wilson Advocate for Increased Funding for Savannah River National Laboratory to Support the Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative 2026-09-25 2026 2026-09 Republican Senate SC Darline Graham G000608 www.dgraham.senate.gov darlinegraham https://www.dgraham.senate.gov/media/press-releases/ scraper WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Darline Graham (R-South Carolina) and Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) along with Congressman Joe Wilson (R-South Carolina) are urging the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Department of Energy (DOE) to provide an additional $20 million in the Fiscal Year 2028 budget request for the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) to support the Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative (AMC) at the University of South Carolina (USC) Aiken. The AMC is a public-private partnership between SRNL, USC Aiken and industry housed at a 63,000 square foot facility on USC Aiken’s campus. Graham, Scott, and Wilson argue that the continued investment into the AMC will help protect South Carolina jobs, promote innovation, and ensure South Carolina workers and businesses benefit from the next generation of energy and manufacturing technologies. Graham, Scott and Wilson wrote, “As the nation takes steps to implement President Trump’s vision of a U.S. Nuclear Renaissance, the AMC will ensure DOE and its industry partners have the tools and talent to work on the most challenging questions related to the fuel cycle and weapons production. Finally, among its many ancillary benefits, the AMC will also help educate and train a future workforce skilled in advanced manufacturing, as well as drive innovation in artificial intelligence-enabled automation, novel materials development for fusion energy, and nuclear applications.” They continued, “To ensure the AMC’s success, an enduring investment of $20 million per year is needed for facility operations and equipment, research, and partnerships. This funding will ensure that the AMC is staffed, provide for the maintenance of the facility, allow for the procurement of critical equipment needed for cutting-edge research and development, and support collaboration with industry.” 1 2026-09-26T09:43:57Z 2026-09-26T09:44:55Z
