TAA will provide these Hoosier workers with access to full-time skills training and resources to help them find new employment. Donnelly cosponsored and voted to reauthorize the TAA program in 2015, and that legislation was signed into law. Donnelly said, “This is welcome news for the hard-working Hoosiers forced to find new jobs because Carrier decided to ship their jobs to Mexico. With Trade Adjustment Assistance, these workers, losing their jobs through no fault of their own, will have access to the resources and training they may need to find new opportunities.” More information on TAA and the benefits it will provide to these workers can be found on the Department of Labor’s website here. Workers at UTEC in Huntington, Indiana, who are also losing their jobs because of United Technologies’ decision to move jobs to Mexico, were granted TAA assistance earlier this year. In May, Donnelly offered a series of policy proposals aimed at stopping the offshoring of Hoosier and American jobs. Last week, Donnelly announced a federal grant awarded to the City of Indianapolis that will support the hiring of a Recovery Coordinator/Promise Zone Liaison. Donnelly wrote a letter of support for the city’s grant application. This new coordinator, made possible by the grant, will be charged with helping mitigate the hardship of unemployment and finding alternative employment opportunities for Hoosiers, especially those impacted by the closure of the Carrier facility. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
