Adams, who is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was unwilling to reconsider. The call came after Rexnord had declined to speak with Donnelly for more than a month and following Hogsett’s offer to fly to Wisconsin in an effort to discuss the company’s plans to ship Hoosier jobs to Mexico. In the wake of Rexnord refusing to reconsider its decision, Donnelly and Hogsett encouraged Adams to make every possible accommodation to support workers who will lose their jobs. In addition, Donnelly pressed for Rexnord to support any application by the workers for federal benefits (Trade Adjustment Assistance) and Hogsett emphasized his intention to use every available tool to claw back local tax incentives. Donnelly said, “Today’s call with the Rexnord CEO confirms that the company is chasing cheap wages in Mexico. When corporations make decisions like this, Hoosier families and our communities pay the price. I am committed to doing everything possible to support the Hoosier workers impacted by Rexnord’s decision and that includes supporting efforts to obtain federal benefits that help workers find new jobs or get skills training. I also will support efforts by the City of Indianapolis to claw back tax incentives.” Hogsett said, “For years, Indianapolis and hundreds of hardworking families have invested in Rexnord to sustain and grow its local workforce. Despite every offer I have made and the good-faith efforts of its employees, Rexnord has decided they would rather pursue blind profit than invest in Indianapolis. I made clear to Rexnord’s CEO today that they couldn’t be more wrong. In a competitive global marketplace, Rexnord is making an ill-advised decision to cast aside the quality, productivity and experience of their long-time, dedicated Indianapolis employees to chase cheap labor.” Since Rexnord’s initial announcement, Mayor Hogsett has vowed to aid employees and their families while addressing the broader economic impact of the closure for the city. This includes a partnership with Pete the Planner® that will provide workers resources to begin planning for their financial future and support services from community partners including EmployIndy, IUPUI, Vincennes University and a number of local non-profit groups. In addition, the City has secured a federal grant which will hire a full-time Economic Recovery Coordinator, charged with identifying employment opportunities for those impacted by the closure of manufacturing facilities. Donnelly has consistently pushed for policies that invest in our workers, strengthen the middle class, and promote the American economy. In May, Donnelly released a white paper and proposed a series of policy recommendations intended to prevent and discourage the further offshoring of Hoosier and American jobs. The recommendations were sent to the Senate Finance Committee for consideration. The proposals would penalize those that offshore jobs to foreign countries and reward companies that invest in the U.S. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
