UI Labs has joined with Purdue University, Indiana University, and the University of Notre Dame, as well as industry leaders to participate in this unique public-private partnership. I encourage Secretary Hagel to support the proposal.” “I encourage the Department of Defense to seriously consider UI Labs’ Digital Lab for Manufacturing proposal,” said Rokita.  “Indiana is a proven leader in manufacturing and advanced manufacturing.  From cars and trucks to innovative medical devices, leading manufactures from across the county and around the world are relocating to Indiana.  With a top-notch transportation infrastructure and excellent universities, there is no better place for the Department of Defense to invest than in Indiana—the Cross Roads of America.” The DMDI Institute will be funded by the Department of Defense and will provide the proving ground to link promising information technologies tools, standards, models, sensors, controls, practices and skills, and then transition these capabilities to the industrial base for full scale application. By advancing digital manufacturing technologies, the Institute will create new opportunities for manufacturers and help create high-wage, high-skill jobs for American workers. The letter was also signed by Reps. Susan Brooks, Larry Bucshon, Andre Carson, Pete Visclosky, Jackie Walorski and Todd Young.  To read a copy of the letter sent to Secretary Hagel, click here. ### Press Contact Donnelly_Press@Donnelly.Senate.Gov 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
