The bill would allow foreign governments believed to be involved in terror attacks on U.S. soil to be sued in U.S. courts. The legislation has been long-sought by families of 9/11 victims. The veto was overridden by the Senate with a bipartisan 97-1 vote and is expected to be considered by the U.S. House of Representatives later this week. Donnelly said, “I voted to override President Obama’s veto of this bill because I believe the victims of terrorism on U.S. soil should have the right to pursue justice and their day in court.” President Obama vetoed the legislation last Friday evening.
