Speaking during a conference committee between the House and the Senate to finalize a bill to replace No Child Left Behind, Enzi said he believed that the measures in the bill would help ensure that Wyoming teachers and school leaders have more flexibility to tailor the education to meet the needs of all students. We Wyomingites are proud of our school system. Enzi said. Were proud of the way that we support our students, educators, and staff. Were proud of the way that our schools help students prepare for whats next and ensure they have the tools necessary to succeed in a rapidly evolving society. A reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the bill would end the emphasis on standardized tests. Enzi said the bill would also reaffirm the states role in defining education standards by making it clear that the federal government may not mandate or incentivize states to adopt any particular set of education standards, including Common Core. As a grandfather, I look forward to hearing from my grandkids about the innovative ways that they will be learning and less about the prep-for-the-test system that we have had for too long now, Enzi said. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
