U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) hailed todays passage of the Bipartisan Sportsmens Act of 2015 by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. This is an important step toward reaching a final vote in the Senate. Senator Fischer released the following statement: Outdoor recreation is part of the Nebraska way of life. Today was an important step forward for bipartisan legislation that will promote our country's hunting, fishing, and conservation heritage. I hope the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will swiftly consider this bill so that a final proposal can advance to the Senate floor. Access to public lands is the number one issue for America's sportsmen and sportswomen. The Sportsmen's Act includes a broad array of bipartisan measures to enhance opportunities for hunters, anglers, and outdoor recreation enthusiasts. The bill would also reauthorize key conservation programs, improve access to public lands, and help boost the outdoor recreation economy. In February, Senator Fischer joined Congressional Sportsmens Caucus (CSC) leadership in introducing the legislation. Fischer has been a member of the CSC since 2013, and she currently serves as the caucus vice-chair. This is the first of three committees of jurisdiction that must approve the bill before it can receive a final vote on the Senate floor.
