U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), chairman of the Senate Surface Transportation Subcommittee, issued the following statement today after the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) approved a Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant for $20 million to fund a road-widening project from Murray to Plattsmouth: I'm excited to hear the Department of Transportation approved a $20 million grant for this expansion project stretching from Murray to Plattsmouth. Since fall of 2017, I've been advocating for this investment because it will improve road safety and connectivity between our communities. I'm thankful to Secretary Chao for her support of this important infrastructure project for Nebraska. In October of 2017, Fischer sent aletterto Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao to requesting consideration of this expansion project. More information on the BUILD Grants program from the U.S. DOT: The project will reconstruct approximately seven miles of US-75/US-34 from Murray, NE to Plattsmouth, NE, widening the two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided expressway.
