U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee and chairman of the Subcommittee on Transportation and Safety, released the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT) announced a $4.5 million grant for improvements to the Nebraska,Kansas, andColorado Railway (NKCR)in western Nebraska and eastern Colorado: Today's grant will improve an important freight rail line between Nebraska and Colorado, which is welcome news for our state's communities, ag producers, and businesses. I thank Transportation Secretary Chao for this significant grant benefitting the Heartland. More information from DoT: Funding for the grant comes from the FY 20 Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Grant Program.
