https://www.fischer.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/news?ID=8903651B-9A6F-458B-928D-8090055C3F98 FISCHER INVITES NEBRASKANS TO PARTICIPATE IN HOLIDAY MAIL FOR HEROES PROGRAM 2013-11-22 2013 2013-11 Republican House NE Deb Fischer F000463 www.fischer.senate.gov     legacy Washington, D.C. U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) is teaming up with the American Red Cross to give Nebraskans an opportunity to send holiday wishes and show their appreciation for military service members, their families, and veterans. Each year, the Red Cross collects holiday cards from Americans through its Holiday Mail for Heroes program to send to the nation's men and women in uniform both overseas and in local communities. The Holiday Mail for Heroes program is a wonderful way we can show support during the holiday season to those whose service and sacrifice ensure Americans can enjoy the gift of freedom each and every day. I hope Nebraskans will join me in this effort to send our thanks to the dedicated members of our military around the world, their families, and brave veterans, said Fischer. Those who wish to participate can make or purchase a card or to sign and mail to the following address. Cards guaranteed for delivery should be received by December 6, 2013: Holiday Mail for Heroes P.O. Box 5456 Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456 Senator Fischer and the Red Cross have also created a card Nebraskans can conveniently print and sign at home. The card is available on Senator Fischer's website HERE and is also attached. To ensure holiday cards can be quickly screened and mailed to heroes, the Red Cross asks that participants follow the below guidelines: Ensure that all cards are signed. Use generic salutations such as Dear Service Member. Cards addressed to specific individuals cannot be delivered through this program. Only cards are being accepted. Do not send or include letters. Do not include email or home addresses on the cards: the program is not meant to foster pen pal relationships. Do not include inserts of any kind, including photos: these items will be removed during the reviewing process. Please refrain from choosing cards with glitter or using loose glitter as it can aggravate health issues of ill and injured warriors. If you are mailing a large quantity of cards, please bundle them and place them in large mailing envelopes or flat rate postal shipping boxes. Each card does not need its own envelope, as envelopes will be removed from all cards before distribution. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
