During the visit, Fischer received mission briefs from Admiral Tidd, the USSOUTHCOM Commander, and Rear Admiral Cashman, the Joint Task Force Guantanamo Commander. Senator Fischer released the following statement: It was an honor to spend Thanksgiving day with members of the Nebraska National Guard currently stationed at Guantanamo Bay. These service members are moms and dads, sisters and brothers, who are far away from their loved ones and the comfort of home this holiday season.
