U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) applauded the announcement that the Central Colorado Area Health Education Center will receive $123,853 through the Combating Opioid Overdose through Community-Level Intervention (COOCLI) grant program. This grant announcement is welcome news for a state that has beenravagedby the opioid epidemic, said Senator Gardner. In recent years Colorado has seen a devastating uptick in deaths from illegal substance abuse, including methamphetamines. We must address the rise of opioid and meth use around the country and provide new resources to fight back in our communities. According to the Office of National Drug Control Policy, funds provided under this award will support efforts to: 1) undertake research activities that entail implementing and evaluating community-based efforts to fight the opioid epidemic; and 2) support and promote the partnership of law enforcement and public health agencies, whose collaboration is critical to reducing overdose and other harms of opioid abuse. Senator Gardner has made it a priority to fight the rise of opioids and meth in Colorado: ### Cory Gardner is a member of the U.S. Senate serving Colorado. He sits on the Energy & Natural Resources Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, the Commerce, Science, & Transportation Committee, and is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
