This year, The American Geophysical Union's Presidential Citation was awarded to both SenatorsGardnerand Gary Peters (D-MI) for their bipartisan work together on science policy. Past award winnersinclude, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME), and several world renowned scientists.Thisawardwasalsoacknowledged by theUniversity Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR)which is headquartered in Colorado,who congratulated both Senator's for winning the AGU award for their bipartisan work in support of science. Gardner's record on science: Gardnerhas long been recognized a leader in his party on science and federal research policy. Hehas fought for legislation reducing emissions through clean energy policies and technologies. Gardnerreceivedthe Consortium of Social Science Associations' Distinguished Service Award.
