U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) celebrated the announcement that the Colorado Department of Homeland Security andEmergency Management will receive a total of $4,196,407 in expedited federal funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for emergency protective measures as a result of COVID-19. According to FEMA, the funding will be used to lease facilities for Alternate Care Sites where patients with COVID-19 can receive medical care during their isolation period. We must continue to ensure our state has the necessary resources to combat COVID-19 and keep us safe,said Senator Gardner.This critical funding from FEMA will support our fight against this virus, and I will continue working to ensure Coloradans have what we need to get through this global health pandemic. This funding is authorized under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (the Stafford Act) and comes as a result of the President approving the state of Colorado's Disaster Declaration, whichGardner and members of the Colorado delegation urged. In addition to this funding, Colorado received$4.4 millionfrom FEMA on October 13,$12.4 millionon June 8,$14.6 millionon May 14,$10.2 millionon April 27,over $1.5 millionon April 20,$4 millionon April 15, andnearly $17 millionon April 7.
