U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO), a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, met with Dan Brouillette, the nominee for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy. Mr. Brouillette is currently the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Energy, and his nomination is under consideration by Gardner's committee. The Senate previously confirmed Mr. Brouillette to be Deputy Secretary with a strong bipartisan vote of 79-17 on August 3, 2017. Mr. Brouillette and I had a productive conversation regarding America's future as a global leader in energy research and development, said Senator Gardner. I stressed the importance of Colorado's scientific research institutions and the groundbreaking work done in Colorado at places like the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden to advance renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and more environmental opportunities. I look forward to continuing to work with Mr. Brouillette in his new role upon Senate confirmation to advance responsible, all-of-the-above energy policies to keep energy costs low and keep our nation's energy supply secure. ### Cory Gardner is a member of the U.S. Senate serving Colorado. He sits on the Energy & Natural Resources Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, the Commerce, Science, & Transportation Committee, and is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity Policy. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
