Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) delivered recorded interviews and documents comprising the stories of service from six Iowa veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces to the Library of Congress'Veterans History Project. Last month, Grassley's officeinterviewedveterans at the Waverly Area Veterans Post in Waverly to document their service to the nation. This is the third time Grassley has submitted interviews to the Library of Congress. A list of the records he has contributed to the project can be foundhere. Grassley also published anop-edon his experience participating in the program so far. These stories will be preserved in the permanent collection of the Library, making accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. This is one small way to honor our veterans and learn from different generations. I want to thank all our veterans who have sacrificed in defense of our freedoms. Their service ensures that all Americans will live in peace and prosperity for generations to come, Grassley said. Established by Congress in 2000, theVeterans History Projectof the Library of Congress collects, preserves and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realities of war. To date, more than 1,200 stories from Iowans have been recorded by the project.
