This week, non-profits of all sizes appealed to Americans to give back this holiday season. Like many sectors, the non-profit industry is hurting from COVID-19. As part of the CARES Act, Congress enacted key tax provisions to encourage charitable giving to help support organizations that are being called upon more than ever to help Americans during this pandemic. These charitable giving provisions apply both to people who itemize on their taxes and those who do not. Iowa is blessed to have an extensive network of charitable organizations who are supported by incredible volunteers and fellow Iowans who open up their pocketbooks to support their neighbors in need. This fall, Senator Ernst and I heard from at least 20 non-profits in the Cedar Rapids area about their challenges and successes this year. The work Iowa non-profits do is inspiring and has a tremendous impact. In this season of thanksgiving, I speak on behalf of my home state to thank these organizations and your employees and volunteers for the hard work and services you deliver every day of the year to Iowans in need. -30- 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
