The Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act provides consumers access to distant television content by satellite. It was set to expire on Dec. 15. Passage of this bill makes sure the statute won't expire and the 1.5 million customers who likely don't have other options for receiving television service won't lose their satellite service, Grassley said. I appreciate the bipartisan work that went into getting this law reauthorized. Grassley's bill reauthorizing the Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act was included in a larger package of telecom related legislation. It will now go to the President for signature. The Judiciary Committee held a hearing on The Satellite Television Extension and Localism Act in March.
