In addition to in-person meetings, phone calls, emails and letters, Twitter is another way for me to connect and hear from everyone back home. I hope to hear from as many North Dakotans as possible.” Improving the country’s education system is one of Heitkamp’s top policy goals. This week, Heitkamp helped pass a bipartisan student loan bill that allows students to take advantage of historically low interest rates, locks the rate in for the life of the loan and caps future rates. Heitkamp also wrote legislation to assist individuals saddled with costly, private student loans repay. An ardent supporter of early childhood education, Heitkamp continually pushes for increased Head Start funding.
