Heitkamp is seeking motivated individuals who want experiential education in public service. The internship program is a hands-on learning experience, allowing interns to work side-by-side with Heitkamp’s Senate professional staff as they work on behalf of North Dakotans. “There’s nothing more encouraging than seeing North Dakota’s young people engaged in the political process,” Heitkamp said. “Interns in my office have the chance to serve North Dakota, while also gaining real-world skills and witnessing government in action.” Washington, D.C. interns work in the areas of legislation, press, or scheduling and help ensure the smooth operation of her Capitol Hill office. In North Dakota, interns work alongside outreach staff and have the opportunity to learn about the constituent advocacy process firsthand. North Dakota internships are offered in the Bismarck, Fargo, Minot, Dickinson, and Grand Forks offices. Successful candidates will be those who demonstrate leadership, thoughtfulness, creativity, a strong attention to detail, and a sense of public service. Preference will be given to students who are from North Dakota. To apply, visit https://www.heitkamp.senate.gov/public/?p=internships. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
