During a policy briefing hosted by The Hill newspaper and the American Petroleum Institute, Heitkamp highlighted the national security benefits of producing more North American fuel. Heitkamp has continually pushed for an all-of-the-above energy policy to end our dependence on energy supplies from unstable and unsafe places around the world.  “North America can clearly become energy independent,” Heitkamp said to a room full of reporters and industry officials. “But it is going to take an energy policy like we have in North Dakota. A lot of politicians talk about an all-of-the-above energy plan, but their actions don’t often match their words. “It has taken this administration longer to make a decision on the Keystone pipeline than it took us to beat Hitler in WWII, which is pretty amazing,” Heitkamp continued. “Working with our good friends to the North, it is in America’s interest to include Canadian resources in our resource mix.”  -END- 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
