Nominated by Heitkamp, they will join other advocates from across the country who will be recognized for their efforts to improve the lives of foster and adopted children during a ceremony in October. In addition to three biological children, Courtney and Bobby became trained foster caregivers in Montana and North Dakota and have cared for foster children for both short and long periods of time, depending on the needs of the child. They recently adopted a daughter from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and are preparing to bring home two brothers from Ethiopia. In addition to bringing children into their own home, Courtney and Bobby also started an orphan ministry in their community church for parents of foster and adopted children. “Courtney and Bobby have made such a huge difference in the lives of so many vulnerable children by opening their hearts and homes to these kids,” said Heitkamp. “They understand the positive and life changing effects their actions have on the children they bring into their home and Courtney and Bobby are beyond deserving of the nomination. The Williamses are a source of inspiration for so many others and they set an example of true selflessness, commitment and love. I am honored to nominate them as Angels in Adoption.” “We are humbled to receive this award and sincerely enjoy helping children in need,” said Courtney and Bobby Williams. “Our goal with the support groups and ministry is to get the community involved and make a collective effort to enrich the lives of foster and adopted children. We greatly thank Senator Heitkamp for nominating us as Angels of Adoption, and appreciate her work to raise awareness about the need to provide kids with a life-time home.” Angels in Adoption is the signature program of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institution, which provides an opportunity for Members of Congress to honor the good work of constituents who have enriched the lives of foster and adopted children. Each year the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute holds a three day event for Angels in Adoption awardees, followed by a Gala, in Washington, DC. Events this year will be held October 7-9.
