Heitkamp participated in many confidential briefings discussing the Assad regime’s horrible use of chemical weapons on its own people over the past week and explained her decision to vote against a resolution authorizing military force.  Heitkamp, along with Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), put forth an alternative approach that would allow the United States to build international support and exhaust all diplomatic options before considering military force. In addition to in-person meetings, phone calls, emails and letters, Twitter is another way for Heitkamp to connect and hear from North Dakotans. How it works: -          Log on to www.Twitter.com today through the end of the town hall on Tuesday. -          Post a tweet with a question about Syria followed by your hometown and #AskHeidiH. For example: What were your thoughts on the President’s speech about Syria? Casselton #AskHeidiH -          Senator Heitkamp will reply to as many tweets as possible regarding Syria.   Twitter Town Hall Who: Senator Heidi Heitkamp When: Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 3:15 p.m. CT Where: @SenatorHeitkamp  ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
