U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced $66,479 in federal funding to strengthen science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education for North Dakota students in kindergarten through 12th grade. STEM education is critical in preparing students to enter a competitive 21st Century workforce, said Heitkamp. UND has proven to be a top research facility and I know that by supporting teacher training it will equip our states teachers with the tools they need to keep North Dakota and our country leading a global economy. These federal funds will be used to support the development of STEM education through a program at the University of North Dakota (UND). This program aims to help teachers expand upon their knowledge of the most up-to-date education techniques to better educate students in these increasingly important courses. The information this NDSU program collects will be used to support the professional development of teachers to make sure todays students are prepared for the careers of tomorrow. These funds are authorized by the National Science Foundation. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
