U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced $1.5 million in federal funding for the waste water treatment plant in Fargo. These federal funds are made available through the Federal Emergency Management Agencys (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program and will provide needed infrastructure support for mitigation efforts to help protect against the disastrous effects of flooding. We must continue to provide support to Fargo and surrounding areas affected by flooding, said Heitkamp. North Dakotans understand that flooding is a real threat and by implementing basic safeguards to better protect the citys infrastructure, it will make sure basic water treatment systems are in operation when most needed. Heitkamp is a longtime advocate for increased and permanent flood protections in North Dakota.
