The federal funding announced today will help provide the resources needed to reduce overdoses, provide treatment, and prevent addiction from occurring in the first place.” This federal funding is made available through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Heitkamp has been working to address opioid abuse in North Dakota and has hosted a series a roundtable listening sessions across the state over the past year to hear from law enforcement, treatment providers, and families who are on the front lines of this epidemic.
