This federal loans will be used to improve efficiency, upgrade and maintain distribution lines, and make investments into more reliable technology. Additionally, $270,000 of the loan is dedicated to make investments in smart grid technology. Supporting our electric co-ops in North Dakota is critical to communities across our state, especially our rural areas, said Heitkamp. The confidence we have in our power grid to light out homes and power our businesses stems from the trust we place in our co-ops and these federal loans will make sure they can make the needed upgrades for their infrastructure to support North Dakotas growing economy.
