U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced that the new National Agricultural Genotyping Center will be located on the campus of North Dakota State University (NDSU) in Fargo at the U.S. Department of Agricultures Red River Valley Agricultural Research Center. North Dakotas agriculture industry is one of the leading economic drivers of our state and its essential we make sure farmers and researchers have the information and tools they need to do their jobs effectively, said Heitkamp. After the National Corn Growers Association heeded my call, this is great news that NDSU will host the new National Agricultural Genotyping Center. The innovation that will result will be incredibly beneficial to farmers, their families, and communities across North Dakota and will help our state remain an agricultural leader. Last month, Heitkamp led an effort to locate the Genotyping Center in Fargo, noting that North Dakota is an ideal location, leading the nation in crop diversity with 42 different crops eligible for planting in a given year. Developed by the National Corn Growers Association and a consortium of partnering commodity organizations, the National Agricultural Genotyping Center will be a cutting edge agricultural research facility aimed at developing innovative new tests for plant diseases in corn, soybeans, and other crops. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
