U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced more than $50,000 in federal funding for emergency water assistance for the city of St. John to make sure community members have critical access to water. The $50,430 in federal support will be used to bolster rural connectivity to better, more reliable water sources by helping the St. John community find new water sources, drill a new well, and to connect to an existing water main to provide the families and neighborhoods in St. John with the water resources they need. Towns and communities in rural areas across North Dakota make up the heart of our state, and its absolutely critical that we make sure they can rely on the same level of access offered in bigger cities, said Heitkamp. One of those crucial resources rural North Dakotans need to depend on is readily available water for their homes, farms and ranches year-round. Thats why todays federal investment in St. John is so critical by continuing to build up our federal partnerships, we can work to make sure all of North Dakotas communities no matter how rural or remote are connected to the critical resources, like water, they need every day.
