These federal funds, which were reauthorized in the 2014 Farm Bill that Heitkamp wrote, negotiated, and passed, will help rural North Dakota businesses as well as farmers and ranchers conserve energy through new energy efficiency improvements and installation renewable energy systems. North American energy independence is possible with a true all-of-the-above energy strategy, which includes continuing to make investments in energy conservation through efficiency, said Heitkamp, a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry. Rural America must not be left behind in using new energy efficiency technology, which is why I pushed for the Farm Bill that Congress passed last year to support all aspects of farming and ranching, including making sure energy is used efficiently.
