U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today voted to extend tax relief and provisions for North Dakota families, children, and businesses. Heitkamp has long advocated for lasting solutions for these tax credits and provisions that many low and middle-income families, North Dakota small businesses, and workers in the states energy industry depend on. Todays passage of a one-year extension is a positive step forward, but more long-term or permanent solutions are needed for families and businesses who need to plan for the future. In North Dakota, we have to plan ahead we plan for our harvests, for our winters, and for our childrens futures, said Heitkamp. Thats why Ive been pushing on Congress for the past year to quit delaying, and to start providing more certainty for our businesses and for our families who work hard every day just to make ends meet. Today, the Senate and House finally came together to extend tax relief so many of our communities need for the next year but its not enough. We have to seek practical, lasting solutions that really work, because nail-biting and foot-dragging is no way to legislate its not the way businesses run, its not the way families work, and its not the way this country should operate. We need to come together to find longer-term solutions for the communities that count on us to get the job done.
