U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced $50,000 in federal funding for scientific research at the University of North Dakota (UND) to study and develop new technologies for aircraft and spacecraft. The I-Corps: Commercialization for the Autonomous Attitude Determination and Control Technology project at UND will study and develop new technology that will provide aircraft and spacecraft with new adaptive functions to allow them to better respond to changes in their environment that may otherwise debilitate the craft. The University of North Dakota and the city of Grand Forks are the hub of aerial and space craft development, said Heitkamp. The expansion of the air and space industry will allow our state to become the regional leader that will drive economic, educational, and national defense development well into the future. This continued federal support will allow UND to maintain its innovative edge as it advances new technology that will protect these craft and the individuals aboard them.
