U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today announced that she nominated four outstanding students from North Dakota for admission to the nations military service academies. Heitkamp nominated Abram Budge from Fargo, Caroline Huber from Minot, and Jacob Pikarski and Zane Rosenkrance both from Bismarck. Serving in our nations military takes determination, dedication and ambition, all of which I see in Abram, Caroline, Jacob and Zane, said Heitkamp. Its a privilege to nominate this group of outstanding students to our nations military service academies and Im proud to have them represent North Dakota. Members of Congress are able to nominate students to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, New York; the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York; and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Below are more details about the students Heitkamp nominated: Caroline Huber from Minot Principal Nomination to the United States Naval Academy Huber, who grew up in a military family and has lived abroad during her fathers military service, is currently a senior at Minot High School. She is very involved in the school, including the German Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, Model UN, and the student newspaper. Huber also plays soccer and cross country, and volunteers at the Minot Air Force Base library, Middle School Cross Country, ICAN Bike, and 705th MUNS. Zane Rosenkrance from Bismarck Principal Nomination to the United States Military Academy Rosenkrance is a senior at Bismarck Century High School and is involved in National Honor Society, is an Eagle Scout, and has earned two Academies letters. He is also involved in diving, soccer, and wrestling and has participated in Air Force Academy dive camps and the Coast Guard AIM Academy. Abram Budge from Fargo Nominated to the United States Merchant MarineAcademy Budge is currently a senior at Fargo South High School. He is involved in the U.S. Air Force Junior ROTC, drill competition, and Varsity Color Guard. He also serves as Commander of Summer Leadership Schools. Budge is also active in track and field, swimming, tennis and weightlifting, in addition to volunteering at Camp Wilderness. Jacob Pikarski from Bismarck - Nominated to the United States Merchant MarineAcademy Pikarski is a senior at Bismarck Century High School and is involved in Student Congress and History Bowl, and is a SADD Chapter Board Member. In addition, Pikarski plays varsity football and track and field, and participates in summer weight lifting. Pikarski volunteers at the Buddy Walk and New Song Church, and is a Student Leader at Arise Youth Church.
