Goolsby Elementary School in Las Vegas as well as Mount Rose Elementary School and Roy Gomm Elementary School in Reno, Nevada as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2018. Since 1982, the U.S. Department of Education has recognized schools that have achieved high academic excellence or bridged the achievement gap among student subgroups with this award. The three Nevada schools are among only 349 schools throughout the country that were recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools this year. Nevada's recipients were each recognized as Exemplary High Performing Schools. Representatives from the three Nevada schools will be invited to a formal recognition ceremony in Washington, D.C. on November 7th and November 8th. I am so proud that three of Nevada's schools were recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools for their high levels of academic excellence, said Heller. As the husband of a teacher and father of four who attended Nevada's public schools, I know that Nevada's educators have one of the most challenging, important, and rewarding jobs, and I'm extremely grateful for their work because I've seen first-hand the positive impact that high caliber teachers have on their students.
