Among the total 19 conservative judges confirmed this year is Justice Neil Gorsuch, who filled the vacant U.S. Supreme Court seat of Justice Antonin Scalia following his death. Additionally, the U.S. Senate confirmed more circuit court judge nominees under President Trump than any other President in modern history has had confirmed during their first year in office. Under the leadership of President Trump and the Senate Judiciary Committee, this year the Senate confirmed a remarkable number of well-qualified conservative judges to the federal bench, said Heller. As a strong believer in the U.S. Constitution, I know that it matters who serves on these courts. The Constitution should drive all the decisions we make in this body, and the Constitution should be the focus of the judges on our federal courts. Im incredibly proud that in addition to putting Justice Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, the Senate also broke a record for the number of circuit court judge nominees confirmed during the first year of President Trumps Administration. This is exactly what the American people sent us to do to deliver results and thats why I look forward to working with my colleagues in the New Year to maintain this pace and fill the numerous judicial vacancies. In October, Heller pushed his colleagues to work full-time, 24/7 for the remainder of the year to combat Democrat obstruction and get results for the American people. At the time, the Senate had confirmed only seven judges.
