Tim Scott (R-SC) to significantly increase the child tax credit to $2,000, or double the child tax credit from current law. At 12:30 p.m. PT, the Senate Finance Committee will debate amendments to the Tax Cut and Jobs Act. Nevada media can live-stream the markup here. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act also includes Heller’s provision that would make it easier for startups and businesses to give employees an ownership stake in their company’s success by awarding stock options. According to the Tax Foundation, the U.S. Senate Finance Committee’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will create nearly 1 million new jobs, increase wages by 2.9 percent, grow the economy by 3.7 percent, and provide more than $1.2 trillion of additional revenue for the federal government. What: U.S. Senate Finance Committee debates amendments to the newly-released Tax Cuts and Jobs Act When: Wednesday, November 15th, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. PT Where: The markup will be live-streamed here. “My mom was a school cook and my dad was an auto mechanic, and they told their kids that if they work hard then they too can achieve the American dream. However, too many Nevadans tell me that they think it’s out of reach,” said Heller. “I’m pleased the U.S. Senate Finance Committee included my amendment to increase the credit to $2,000 per child, an increase of $1,000 over current law. This change will help thousands of hardworking Nevadans by putting thousands of dollars back into their pockets, and represents yet another step forward in making the American dream possible again for so many people. I will continue to stand up for Nevada’s priorities as we debate this bill and urge my colleagues to keep working around the clock until we provide tax relief to Nevadans and Americans throughout the country.” ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
