This funding was made available under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funded by the annual appropriations process and will be used to support the required sewer and earthwork necessary for the extension and reconstruction of Taxiway B and Runway 9L/27R. The Grand Forks International Airport is currently in the beginning stages of a multi-year airport expansion and development project that will ultimately improve safety and increase capacity to support flight training activity by the University of North Dakota (UND), as well as commercial air service. Last month, the airport temporarily closed to commercial air traffic in order to complete reconstruction of the intersection of two of the runways. “With over 365,000 flight operations per year, Grand Forks International Airport is one of the top 25 busiest airports in the country.
