As chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, the senator secured $1.1 billion across 2018 and 2019 for the ReConnect Program, a rural broadband loan and grant pilot program targeted to areas that currently lack access to quality broadband service. We are continuing to develop the infrastructure needed to support high-quality broadband services, said Hoeven. This second round of ReConnect funding is an important step toward closing the digital gap in rural communities and keeping innovations moving forward. Adequate connectivity is essential to North Dakota's growing technology sector and for producers as they utilize precision agriculture technologies.
