The funding is being awarded to the DCC East Project in Grand Forks. “North Dakota has always been a leader in energy innovation and now with Project Tundra, we’re leading the technology development of carbon capture and storage on a traditional coal-fired power plant,” said Hoeven. “Project Tundra is vital to the future of our lignite industry, and will help ensure we have the reliability and affordability of coal-fired electric power today and for future generations.” Hoeven has worked to advance Project Tundra to provide a way forward for the state’s coal-fired electric industry.
