In September, Hoeven introduced and the Senate unanimously passed a resolution designating October 26th as the Day of the Deployed. Today we honor the selfless service of many thousands of brave men and women deployed on missions to protect our country and secure our freedom, Hoeven said. We extend our deepest thanks for your sacrifice. At the same time, we honor the families and loved ones who demonstrate their commitment to our nation in their support for our servicemen and women. More than 2 million individuals currently serve in the U.S. Armed Forces, including those in the active duty, Guard and Reserve components. Several hundred thousand members are deployed each year to 150 countries around the world. As Governor of North Dakota, Hoeven launched the first Day of the Deployed on October 26, 2006. Hoeven has continued to spearhead the effort in the U.S. Senate, and in 2011 he sponsored the first Senate resolution calling for a national Day of the Deployed. -###- Print Email Tweet Next Article Previous Article 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
