Twining School Project WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Defense Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC) has awarded more than $55 million to Grand Forks Air Force Base Public School District No.140 as part of a larger $69 million project to build a new Nathan F. Twining Elementary and Middle School on Grand Forks Air Force Base in order to address capacity and condition concerns. Once completed, the new facility will support 500 pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students, while providing students from military families with a high-quality education and a learning environment focused on the principles of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). “North Dakota is home to some of the nation’s leading U.S. Air Force bases, and it’s vital that our installations have the capacity to support the educational needs of our service members’ families.
