Honorable, a nominee to be a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to help build the nation's energy infrastructure, including expediting the citing of transmission lines. Hoeven also pressed Honorable to help expedite the export applications for liquefied natural gas (LNG). We can become energy secure in the United States, but we need to invest in the necessary energy infrastructure to do so, said Hoeven. We need to provide regulatory certainty to encourage investments. That includes making the application process for energy projects everything from LNG export facilities to the citing of transmission lines fair and efficient. The senator received assurances from Honorable to work with him and other members of Congress to identify ways to streamline FERC's oversight practices. Such reforms would provide additional clarity to the process and send signals of confidence to the market and potential investors. If confirmed by the Senate, Honorable would serve on the FERC with former North Dakota Public Service Commissioner Tony Clark. The FERC is an independent agency responsible for regulating the interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas and oil.
