We've worked through our Empower ND energy plan to make North Dakota an energy powerhouse for the nation producing all different types of energy both traditional and renewable, said Hoeven. With North Dakota's leadership in energy, we look forward to continuing to work with Secretary Brouillette to grow our nation's domestic energy development. This includes the development of new technologies, like Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), that will harness our abundant coal resources and allow us to continue producing reliable, affordable energy with fewer emissions. We appreciate his willingness to again visit North Dakota and to maintain his department's support for the EERC and its partners in making Project Tundra and similar technologies commercially-viable. In a committee hearing and a meeting at the senator's office, Hoeven secured a commitment from Brouillette to visit North Dakota and see firsthand the efforts of the University of North Dakota's Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC) and its partners to develop commercially-viable carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technologies.
