The Keystone XL Pipeline is all about upgrading important energy infrastructure to support our economy and create jobs, Hoeven said. In addition to creating thousands of jobs and generating billions of dollars in capital investment, the project will also reduce our dependence on Middle Eastern oil while helping to transport oil more quickly and safely. That's why I urge the President to take any appropriate action to ensure construction on this important project resumes as soon as possible. In addition to Hoeven and Daines, the letter was signed by Senators Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), James Risch (R-Idaho), Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), John Thune (R-S.D.) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), as well as twenty-seven members of the House of Representatives including Congressman Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.). The full text of the group's letter can be found here. In the 114th Congress, Hoeven introduced S.1, legislation to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline on constitutional grounds. The bill passed with bipartisan support in both the Senate and the House, but was then vetoed by President Obama, who had delayed the project for more than seven years.
