Senator Hoeven's internship program provides college students and recent graduates with the opportunity to work with the senator and his staff on legislative, communications and administrative projects. We welcome Claire and Christian to our D.C. office and Austin to our Fargo office, Hoeven said. Over the course of this semester, they have committed to helping my office and serving the people of North Dakota. We hope their experiences are enriching, and we thank them for their work. Christian Miller Christian Miller grew up in Chicago. He is a senior at George Washington University (GWU) where he is majoring in Political Science and minoring in International Affairs and History. He is a member of the College Republicans and works on the GWU Strategic Crisis Simulations which prepares military academy cadets to address diplomatic situations and foreign affairs crises. He plans to pursue a career in public service. Austin Stolpestad Austin Stolpestad grew up in Monticello, Minn. He is a senior at Minnesota State University-Moorhead majoring in Political Science and minoring in Aerospace Studies. He plans to pursue a commission in the U.S. Air Force through North Dakota State University's Air Force ROTC program. Claire Welch Claire Welch is the daughter of Wes and Sandi Welch and grew up in Park River, N.D. She is a senior at the University of Minnesota where she is studying Political Science and Italian. She has served as president of Kappa Kappa Gamma and is involved with several other student organizations. More Information about Senator Hoeven's Internship Program Senator Hoeven offers internship opportunities in his Washington, D.C. and state offices. North Dakota students interested in applying for the program should submit an application online. The deadline for applications for fall internships, which run from January through May, is November 1st.
