The disaster declaration approval unlocks federal resources to support recovery efforts. Eight counties were approved for Public Assistance, including Covington, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, Stone, and Wayne. In addition, Hancock, Harrison, Pearl River, and Stone counties were approved for Individual Assistance. “We thank President Trump for approving Mississippi's major disaster declaration. These federal resources will support families and municipalities as we recover from recent natural disasters,” the Mississippi congressional delegation said in a joint statement.
