The letter reads: “I have visited Ukraine twice this year to support the mission of Oklahoma’s National Guard training Ukrainian forces. Both trips have brought into stark relief the gravity of the situation there. The military land-grab Russia has launched in Ukraine is unprecedented in modern European history.” Inhofe continues: “Since then, Russia’s continued aggression and repeated refusal to respect Ukraine’s territorial integrity warrants a strong response from those of us who respect the rules-based international order. Our response should include lethal military hardware as part of a broader effort to help Ukrainians defend themselves and deter future aggression.” Read the full letter here. Earlier today, Senator Inhofe questioned the Honorable John C. Rood and confirmed his support for aiding Ukraine during his nomination hearing today to be Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.   Click here to watch. Inhofe: “…We had a policy at that time under the previous administration that we were not going to send [Ukraine] defensive weapons…I would just ask as a final question—what do you think Putin is thinking? …Are we moving in the right direction on that? Rood: “… I personally support the position of defensive military equipment to Ukraine. I think it is important that we stand with them as they face Russian aggression…I think it is important to send a message to President Putin and others that we are prepared to support the Ukrainians in that regard…”    Read more about Sen.
