U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.)and Rep. Markwayne Mullin are asking the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to expedite efforts to establish a veterans medical clinic in McCurtain County. On Dec. 11, 2015, Inhofe and Mullin sent a letter to the director of the VA Rocky Mountain Network, the Departments service network in charge of Oklahoma, asking him to ensure the VAs contracting office expedites its work on the southeast Oklahoma clinic so the project can finally be sent out for bid. Now is the time to move forward, not delay, Inhofe and Mullin wrote. Veterans in southeast Oklahoma have waited far too long for a VA clinic that, according to the Department, would greatly improve access to care in this area, serve more veterans, and improve patient satisfaction. Both Inhofe and Mullin have been following the clinics progress very closely and as soon as word was received that the Muskogee VA had sent the completed requirements package to the contracting office, the two legislators moved to press VA leadership to expedite the contracting work. Although we can never repay our veterans for all they have done for this country, we can at least provide them the care and support promised to them, Inhofe said. I have been working closely with Ralph Gigliotti, the director of the VA Rocky Mountain Network, on VA issues and trust that he will ensure this work is expedited to improve care for our veterans in Southeast Oklahoma." Veterans in Southeast Oklahoma must continue to drive long distances to receive the health care they were promised in exchange for their service to our country, Mullin said. I look forward to the quick work by the VA contracting department so that this project can be sent out to bid and finally become a reality. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
