Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), senior member of Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, today issued a statement regarding the Council on Environmental Quality’s announcement of draft guidance on federal agencies’ consideration of greenhouse gas emissions when carrying out obligations under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA): “The expansion of NEPA is another clear indicator that the president is more focused on solidifying his legacy on climate change and appeasing his far-left environmental base rather than expanding and supporting economic opportunity. The new NEPA requirements for analyzing greenhouse gas emissions will further slow down job-creating projects across the nation that rely on federal permits. This action is outside the scope of what the statue intended and demonstrates why NEPA needs to be streamline. The president’s actions today demonstrate the need for Congress to fully evaluate the scope and impact of NEPA on the American economy.” ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
